The bluejackets and Marines of H.M.S. Powerful, who fought at Ladysmith and Graspan, had a magnificent reception in their march through the streets on Monday.  After the inspection by the Prince of Wales and the Lords of the Admiralty, they were entertained at luncheon.  Meanwhile the crowds in the streets were growing thicker and thicker.  Trafalgar Square was a seething mass.  On either side the people swarmed like bees, and a pathway between was only kept with the utmost difficulty by police.  When at length the procession started for the City, and passed round the corner of Trafalgar Square on their way to the Embankment, the enthusiasm was intense.  There was one continuous roar of cheering from the crowds in the streets, and waving of handkerchiefs from the surrounding windows.  In the crowds the bulk of the would-be spectators could see nothing of the procession, but everyone cheered in spite of disappointment.  Such crowds have never been seen before, the masses who gathered to see the Jubilee procession being small in comparison.
