Biggest Battleship in the World : The Launch of the "Bellerophon" 1907

H.M.S. Bellerophon was launched by Princess Henry of Battenberg on Saturday at Portsmouth. She is the biggest Battleship afloat, having a displacement of 18,600 tons, or 700 tons in excess of the Dreadnought. Her turbine engines to four propellers will give her a sea speed of twenty-one knots. The most notable improvement upon the Dreadnought will be the raising of the twin-gun barbette of the centre line, thus affording a stern fire of eight guns (12in.) instead of six. The Bellerophon to which Napoleon surrendered on July 15, 1815, would have gone easily into her hold.
