  When Tommy Jones sits down to play
  The birds come fast from far away,
  And all the calves and chickens come
  To hear him tootle "Home, sweet home."

  The pigs flock round the player's knee,
  And grunt aloud in ecstasy,
  And ducks make journeys from afar
  To listen to his "Evening Star."

  But Farmer Jones does not enjoy
  The fluty warblings of his boy.
  He says Tom has his work to do,
  And Tommy has to do it too.

  And so it's only when the sun
  Is going down and work is done
  That Tommy plays- I hear him play :
  I'm glad he has to work all day.
