The preservation of Staple Inn by the hands of its owner, the Prudential Assurance Company, which rescued it in 1886, has received its latest filip from the construction of a formal garden.  The garden, which has been designed by Mrs. Thompson, wife of general manager of the Company, in collaboration with Mr. Paul Eaterhouse, who worked out the architectural details, is intended to show what can by done in the way of formal gardening in a small space, in face of the difficulties of London atmosphere and soil. The garden greatly adds to the charm of this fine old Inn, which was originally an Inn of Chancery, and dates from the time of Heny V.
