"When we got to a point close to the Kentish Knock, at 6.15 on Saturday morning, we saw a large object floating on the sea about a quarter of a mile to the westward of us.  We could plainly see that it was a disabled Zeppelin, and that on the port quarter were painted in large Red Letters L 15.  A number of British Destroyers, mine-sweepers and other boats were round the airship.  As we got closer we could see that she was completely broken in halves."- Captain John Pells, North Sea Pilot.
