" The Achievements of the Italian artillery have been truely remarkable," said Lord Kitchener in his tribute to the brilliant work of our Southern Ally, "and the manner in which heavy pieces have been hauled into almost inaccessible positions on lofty mountain peaks in spite of great difficulties evokes universal admiration."  This picture gives a good idea of the nature of these operations, in which the Alpine Troops have shown particular skill and daring.
