Exiled from his beloved Ninji Novgorod, Maxim Gorky has found a charming refuge at Capri.  He has been successively a painter of ikoms, Pedlar of Kvass, sculllery-boy, gardener, watchman, and baker's apprentice.  Now that he has finally adopted the perhaps equally remunerative profession of literature, would it be too much to ask Mr. Gorky to abandon the workman's smock he wears in our picture for something more suggestive of the "dolce far niente" of a successful literary career?
