The King's Interest in Civic Berlin :  His Majesty Receives the Burgomaster's Address.

The democratic note struck by the popular and municipal interest in the visit of the King and Queen to Berlin was the feature of their Majesties into the capital.  By the Brandenburger Gate, the stately procession was interrupted by while the Burgomaster, Dr. Kirschner, read an address of civic welcome, in which the interest of King Edward (seen in the carriage with the Emperor in the above photograph, the Queen's carriage being beside it)  apparently  cosiderably exceeded that of his Imperial nephew-who, perhaps, still regards these things as a trifle too-constitutional?

Reverse side shows the following 2 Half Page Photographs called "The Welcome of the City Fathers : King Edward Recieves Berlin's Civic Homage."

     a- King Edward and Kaiser Listen to an Address of Welcome from the Burgomaster of Berlin. The King is wearing the uniform of Colonel of his Prussian Regiment of Dragoons, and the Kaiser that of a British Field -Marshal.
     b- His Majesty leaves the Rathus After the Great Reception. The Rathus reception was the most popular of King Edward's doings in Berlin, and the City Fathers made the very most of the occasion, which was unique in their history.  The King drank the municipal health from an ancient golden goblet. Afterwards, as shown above, he returned to the Royal cast's by motor. He wore the uniform of a Prussian General.
