"Bought and Paid For," by George Broadhurst, at the New Theatre. 1913.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, March 29th, 1913," showing the Following 6 Photographs from "Bought and Paid For," by George Broadhurst, at the New Theatre.

   a- The millionaire, Robert Stafford (Mr. Allan Aynesworth), and his wife, Virginia (Miss Alexandra Carlisle).  Robert is here seen under the influence of drink, and at such times he becomes very objectionable to his wife.  She was only a telephone girl before their marriage, and the man now tells her that he "bought and paid for" her. The next morning she leaves him, and returns to poverty, working as a counter-hand.

   b- Virginia in the ppoor home of her sister Fanny (Miss Alice Crawford) and Fanny's husband, James Gilley (Mr. Frank Craven).  James has just been "fired" by his employers, and, as Virginia still refuses to return to her rich husband, the outlook is black for the trio. 
 
   c- James Gilley as he appears when he discovers that his employer, Robert Stafford, has been paying him ten times the value of his services, whereas James had always considered his great abilities had never been properly rewarded.

   d- The emotion of Virginia, who has always loved her husband, on finding that Robert has sought her out in her poor home.  She does not know he has been brought there by a trick of "Jimmy's" who has no stomach for this honest poverty.

   e- Jimmy and his wife Fanny plotting to bring the rich husband back into the family.

   f- Robert and Fanny getting Virginia ready to return by motor to her wealthy home.  Robert has promised to become a teetotaller, and all is "set fair" again.
