   a- Pottinger, M.P. (Mr. E. Dagnall), dines at the Restaurant Royal with Hilary Chester (Mr. Cyril Keightley) and the actress Rosamond Gaythorne (Miss Ethel Dane). Chester is the chaperon who is posing for the evening as Wellington Jones, the husband of Rosamond, in order to give a chatet of respectability to the meeting of Pottinger and the lady.  But the chaperon has been abusing his post by making love to Rosamond so ardently that the M.P. has arisen in wrath against the impertinent young man. Soon after Mrs. Pottinger arrives, and invites these charming "Joneses" to her house.
   b- Miss Ethel Dane as Rosamond, who favours Pottinger's society merely in order to get him to give her penniless fiance a lucrative post.
   c- "Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Jones" have been forced to visit the Pottingers' country house, where Mr. Jones encounters a lynx-eyed moralist in Mrs. Pottinger's sister (Miss Ada King), who is viciously determined to blacken everybody's character. 
   d- Mr. Pottinger's domestic weakness-
   e- -and its effect on his wife (Miss Helen Haye).
   f- A thunderstorm prevents Hilary Chester and Rosamond from returning to town from the Pottingers on the same day as that on which they arrived, and they are to be seen dismayed at witnessing the preparations being made for putting them up for the night-for, of course, they are known as Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Jones. Relief comes, however, literally at the eleventh hour, in the shape of Rosamond's fiance with a motor.
