The Crisis in China : The Looting of Tientsin by Chinese and Foreigners. 1900.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Graphic, September 22nd, 1900," showing the Following Two Half Page Drawings by Gordon Browne, R.I., from photographs by A. H. Savage Landor, for "The Crisis in China :  The Looting of Tientsin by Chinese and Foreigners."

   a- Europeans returning from the City with Plunder.
   b- The Chinese carrying off their Pillage.

On the day after the battle and fall of the city a great number of Chinese entered the city and managed to carry off a large amount of property, but thet mostly went in for clothes, furs, silks and embroideries, whereas the European forces, to whom the city and suburbs were handed over by the authorities to loot, mostly made for silver and gold.  The Rev. D. J. Mills, a China inland missionary, criticising the fact that Europeans were allowed to loot, says that cartloads, past counting, of gold and silver were brought away, to be equally divided among the forces.
