Last Saturday the centenary of the proclamation of the French Republic was celebrated by a banquet given by President Loubet to the Mayors of France.  Some 23,000 guests sat down to the dejeuner, for which a temporary structure had been prepared in the Tuilleries Gardens.  The organisation was perfect and everything was carried out well.  The line of tables was so long that the organisers and their attendants when making their arrangement travelled round in motor cars or on cycles.
