Watching the Fight : Lord Roberts and His Staff Witnessing the Final Phases of the Action of Driefontein. 1900.

For Sale is a Full Page removed from "The Graphic, May 5th, 1900," showing a Drawing by F. De Haenen called "Watching the Fight :  Lord Roberts and His Staff Witnessing the Final Phases of the Action of Driefontein."

The cavalry found the Kopjes at Driefontein (eight miles south of Abraham's Drift) strongly occupied and immediately attempted to outflank them.  The Sixth Division (General Kelly-Kenny's) bore the brunt of the battle, and the 13th and 18th proceeded to clear the Kopjes under heavy fire, the fine behaviour of the Welsh Regiment being particularly noticed.  The ridge was finally cleared by a bayonet charge, the Boers barely escaping under a gallant fire.  Our illustration shows Lord Roberts with his staff watching the battle with field glasses.  Subsequently Lord Roberts expressed great satisfaction with the behaviour of our men.
