The KIng as colonel-in-chief of the Household Brigade unveiled on Saturday a memorial to the 29 officers and 713 men who fell victims to the war in South Africa.  His Majesty, who was accompanied by the Queen, Prince Arthur of Connaught, and Prince Alexander of Teck, cut the cord of the covering of the memorial with gilt scissors.  The King's librarian, Mr. Richard Holmes, who was present at the service, received the intimation in the church that his Majesty was about to knight him, and the King subsequently conferred the honour.
