The exhibition of the International Society of Painters, Gravers, and Sculptors at the New Gallery which was opened on Monday is interesting from the fact that the gallery has been arranged in accordance with a new scheme of decoration devised by its president, the great French sculptor, Auguste Rodin.  Moreover, it is specially interesting to English people at the present moment from the fact that he has generously offered to design the sculptured setting for his bust of the late Mr. W. E. Henley which is to be placed in St. Paul's Cathedral.  M. Rodin was born in 1840 and began life as a workman in the ateliers of Barye and Carrier Belleuse, 1864-70, and of van Rasbourg (Brussels), 1871-7.  His work is distinguished by its remarkable strength, but he has not triumphed without a struggle.
