This picture represents the central incident in the first act of Mr. Barrie's play.  Peter Pan, the boy who would not grow up, visits the nursery of the Darlings and shows John, Michael, and Wendy Darling how to fly.  They vanish through the window in their nighties and fly away to the Never-Never Land.  Peter Pan introduces them to all sorts of strange sights.
