Whitefield's Tabernacle in Tottenham Court Road has initiated a most novel scheme which shows how Evengelical Christianity is adopting itself to the times.  The minister, the Rev. Silvester Horne, has recognised that after the church services in the evening a large number of young men in the neighbouring warehouses are turned adrift, and so he has added on a service in an adjoining part of the building where the young men can smoke and the young women have refreshments at cost price and meet each other and the members of the congregation.  Mr. Horne is admirably supported by Mr. James Holmes, who takes chief charge of these meetings.  It may be remembered that Mr. Spurgeon once said that he smoked to the glory of God.
