1- Edward Mills Grace.
The senior of the three GRACES, E. M., born in 1841, is the oldest Cricketer playing regularly in important matches.  Has figured regularly in first-class cricket since 1861.  A remarkable hitter, he was at his best one of the fastest scorers of his time.  His first appearance in the Canterbury week was in 1862, as an emergancy for M. C. C. v. Gentlemen of Kent.  A remarkable debut it was, as he not only took every wicket of Kent in their second innings, but going in first scored 192 not out.  One of the very best fields at point we have ever had.  Bowled fast round and subsequently lobs.  During the visit of GEORGE PARR'S Team to Australia, at the end of 1863, he played six Players of Maryborough, and after being in all day carried out his bat for 106.  Known as "The Coroner," from the fact that he is Coroner for West Gloucestershire.

2- John Thomas Brown. 
Six years of County cricket have been sufficient to place J. T. BROWN in a place in the forefront of batsmen.  On his form of last summer, and still more recently with Mr. STODDART'S Team in Australia, he is indeed one of the best all-round Cricketers, not only in Yorkshire, but anywhere.  In 1893, he had the best batting average for Yorkshire, as he practically had also last year.  The Australian Tour, just over, only increased his reputation, and the splendid cricket he showed in conjunction with WARD, won the last of the test matches for England.  Though only of moderate height, he is sturdy in build, and with plenty of resource as well as judgment and power; is a most reliable batsman on any wicket.  A sure field anywhere, moreover, particularly at point.
