1- Lees Whitehead.
Two WHITEHEADS have lately been tried in the Yorkshire Eleven, the one LUTHER and the other LEES.  It has been the latter's misfortune rather than his fault that he has not been able to secure a permanent place in the Yorkshire Eleven.  The all-round strength of the side during the last two or three years is the only explanation to his absence.  This year he has been tried on more than one occasion and with fair success.  Always a useful fast bowler, he has improved considerably as a batsman of late, and is now decidedly above the average as an all-round Cricketer.  So the authorities at Lord's have found him, although it must be admitted his engagement on the Ground Staff of the Marylebone Club has done much to improve his play.

2- Johnny Thomas Tyldesley.
The one of the latest aquisitions to the Eleven, TYLDESLEY has made his mark already in Lancashire cricket.  Born at Worsley, he has for the last two or three years done great service for the Little Lever Club in local matches.  His first opportunity in connection with Lancashire was with the Second Eleven against the Second Eleven of Surrey, at the Oval, last June, and his brilliant hitting on that occasion was one of the best features of a run-getting match.  His introduction into the First Eleven of Lancashire was hardly less successful.  In his first match against Gloucestershire, and at Manchester he carried out his bat for an excellent score of thirty-three, and a week later at Birmingham did a really fine performance, carrying out his bat for 158 against Warwickshire.  On the form he has already shown he ought to be of decided use to Lancashire, as he is a free batsman with plenty of confidence and hitting power, as well as a good field.
