"Alice Sit-By-The-Fire," by J. M. Barrie, at the Duke of York's Theatre. 1905.

                                                 Alice Sit-By-The_Fire.
1- Cosmo and Amy Grey (Mr. A. E. Matthews  and Miss Irene Vanbrugh) expecting the immediate return of their parents after years of absence in India.  The stage-struck Amy, who is engegaed in drying her hair by the fire, is delightfully sentimental at the prospect of the meeting, but Cosmo, the up-to-date "Britannia" boy, says, "If father tries to kiss me, i shall kick him."
2- Cosmo barely tolerates his mother (Miss Ellen Terry), who exclaims : "I feel i can do nothing for the rest of my life but hug my glorious boy.
3- The bachelor, Stephen Rollo (Mr. Kenneth Douglas), has a fantastic liking for treating his servant as a lady. Richardson (Miss Hilda Trevelyan) : "Wot makes yer so good to me, sir?"
4- Cosmo receives a slap on the face for expressing surprise that his young-hearted mother had lately taken a girl's part in amateur theatricals. "Were there no young ladies where you were?"
5- The seventeen-year-old Amy, whose brain is affected by attending five problem plays in one week, astounds her parents and Stephen Rollo, by heroically declaring that Stephen, who she believes has compromised her mother, is her affianced husband.
6- Amy describes the climax of a problem play to her dearest friend, Leonora Dunbar (Miss Lettice Fairfax) : "Click! and the curtain fell!"
7- Amy. being hunoured by her merry parents in her delusion as to her mother's love affair, grants Alice a farewell interview with "the man," but persists in remaining in the room.  Amy : "Please be as brief as possible."
8- Alice realises that her youth has gone, and that she is now "Alice Sit-By-The-Fire."

                                                         Pantaloon.
1- Pantaloon (Mr. Gerald du Maurier), tells Columbine, his daughter, that she should marry the wealthy clown.
2- Pantaloon learns that, on the contrary, Columbine (Miss Pauline Chase), has become engaged to the penurious Harlequin (Mr. Willie Warde).
3- Some years after, the married prodigals return in destitution to the still wrathful Pantaloon, who has lived in lonely poverty, and dreamt of the days when he never "missed the laugh" of the public.
4- And who never forgives them on finding they have smuggled in a young clown-his grandchild.

Condition is Very Good.
