The Requiem of Big Ben for the King. (Funeral of King Edward VII.)

For Sale is a Full Page Drawing removed from "The Graphic, May 24th, 1910," showing a Drawing by Douglas Macpherson for "The Requiem of Big Ben for the King."

For the first time in its history Big Ben was tolled last week- both for Tuesday's procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall and during Friday's funeral procession to Paddington.  For this purpose, in order to give the muffled sound, a leather pad was placed over the hammer by Dent, the maker of the clock.  Hitherto the functions of Big Ben have been restricted to chiming the hours.  It is wound three times a week, and each winding occupies two men for six hours.
