For Sale is a Full Page taken from "The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, February 29th, 1908," showing a Photograph called "The Death of His Majesty's Horse Persimmon," showing "The Derby Winner, with his Owner, Trainer and Jockey, at Newmarket."

This photograph (by W. W. Rouch and Co., of 161 Strand, London) is the only one of the kind including His Majesty in existence, and was taken by Royal Command at Egerton House, Newmarket, in 1897.  It shows the King (then Prince of Wales) with R. Marsh standing by the Derby winner of the year before, on whose back is John Watts, the rider of Persimmon at Epsom. Persimmon, who last week succumbed at Sandringham to his recently received injuries, won nearly £35,000 on the turf, while his stock-including the brilliant Sceptre-have already taken well over £120,000 in stakes.
