Our latest and biggest battleship, the Bellerophon, was launched at Portsmouth recently by Princess Henry of Battenberg, and the above photographs show the final preparations for the Launching of the monster vessel-probably the first time such a scene has been recorded by the camera.  These pictures show the removal of the large blocks from the stern of the vessel, so that the entire weight may fall on the launching cradle- the white-painted structure.  The men are waiting for the bell, on the sound of which they all strike with their hammers at the same moment.
