The Disaster to a French Train : The Fall into the Loire of the Engine of a Train at Pont de Ce. 1907.

For Sale is a Full Page taken from "The Bystander, August 14th, 1907," called "The Disaster to a French Train," showing a Photograph for "The Fall into the Loire of the Engine of a Train at Pont de Ce."

The accident resulted in a death-roll of about twenty-four, and is supposed to have been caused by the expansion and bending of the rails, through which the engine left the metals, and, with the first coach, plunged through the bridge into the river below. Fortunately, the rest of the train was not dragged in the wake of the engine, owing to the fact that the coupling between the first and second carriages broke.  The bodies of those killed were recovered by divers, in the presence of the minister of Public Works.
