The new Duchess of Pless, whose husband has just succeeded to the title owing to the death of his father, was formerly Miss Cornwallis West, sister of the Duchess of Westminster and sister-in-law of Lady Randolph Churchill.
She is a noted Society woman in three countries - England, America, and Germany - in which latter country is situated Furstenstein, the ancestral home of the Pless family.  The Duchess is an enthusiastic sportswoman, well known alike as a lover of horses and yachts.
