For Sale is a Double Page Drawing by F. Matania, taken from "The Sphere," April 27th, 1907, called "The Promise of May - A Scene at Covent Garden Market in the Early Morning."

The scene at Covent Garden in the early hours of the morning is one of remarkable activity. Passengers by the last 'bus home are wont to meet the market gardeners' waggons converging drowsily towards the market, although the natty little traction engines that are now being employed in some instances give much more briskness to the procession. The market-originally the garden of the convent of Westminster-was erected by the Duke of Bedford in 1831. This picture shows the vegetable side, the little street between St. Paul's Church with the pillars on the right being packed with carts and porters from three o'clock in the morning onwards to about eight or nine.

Condition is Very Good, with small binding holes showing.
