For Sale is a Full Page taken from "The Sphere," April 1st, 1905, showing a Facsimile Sketch by our Special Artist to the Russian Capital Paul Thiriat, called "The Night Sentinels of St. Petersburg," showing "The Dvorniks, or Housekeepers."

The Dvorniks are a great institution in Russia. You cannot readily be attacked in the street late at night, for each house has its dvornik or sentinel. If anything is wrong he whistles for the other dvorniks to help him. It is very curious to see them outside the houses they have to watch. Many of them sleep standing up.
