The great exhibition at Glasgow was opened on Thursday last week by the Duke and Duchess of Fife on behalf of His Majesty the King. The opening ceremony took place in the Concert Hall, and the Duchess with a golden key opened the door in the New Art Gallery. Afterwards she drove through the exhibition grounds to the City Hall, where she was made a free burgess. This picture shows the carriage of the Duke and Duchess being escorted by Scots Greys. The beautiful building in the background is the University.
